We pride ourselves in providing independent living homes that meet the needs of active older people over the age of 55 years.
We offer three types of homes:
Our over 55s homes are specially designed to allow people aged over 55 years to live independently. They are not designed for people who need the type of care provided by a care home or a nursing home.
We know that our customers' circumstances can change and that they may need extra care and support. We understand that living independently may no longer be suitable so:
Our aim is to provide good quality independent living homes that meet the needs of active older people over the age of 55 years. To achieve this we provide the following:
We provide intensive inspections and maintenance of our schemes, this includes:
We also engage with social care colleagues and local community organisations to help tackle social isolation.
We understand our older customers may need more of our time to explain tenancy related matters and we liaise with family, carers and advocates on a case-by-case basis. If you need care, budget or debt counselling we can assist in sign posting to specialist agencies who can help.
Our team are not on site every day, but we attend regularly throughout the week and customers are provided details on how to contact Moat.
We provide a daily or weekly welfare call service for those customers who need or want that extra assurance that they have someone to check on them. This service is not charged for. As circumstances change customers can opt in or out of the service depending on their needs. We formally write to customers once a year to check if circumstances have changed.
We work with our Moat Foundation colleagues, our charitable arm, to help facilitate community engagement initiatives on a scheme-by-scheme basis. Each scheme is unique, and, in all cases, we work alongside customers to help empower them to take an active and participative role in their community.
This includes:
We are also working through a programme of refreshing our communal lounges to give space for activities, socialising, and communities to come together.

We work closely with our local authority partners to provide supported housing and independent living homes through local authority nomination agreements. Customers are referred to us via the housing register of their local authority, and they will be able to advise you on your housing options.
